Āltika is investigating a biological approach to a demanding industrial challenge: forming a solid-state electrolyte without conventional high-temperature sintering.
BSSF uses a designed peptide to guide material formation. The ambition is a simpler manufacturing route, with less dependence on furnace infrastructure. The physical research programme will determine what the approach can deliver.
Inside the BSSF programme
From molecular design.
To a physical peptide.
Australian supplier Auspep has synthesised the proprietary peptide, with reported purity of 94% against a 90% specification.
A tangible step forward. Electrolyte conductivity, stability and cell performance remain to be established through experiments.
